The International Forum for Women's Universities' Presidents hosted by China Women's University was held in Beijing on October 18.
The purpose of the forum is to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation on women's higher education and promote development of women's higher education.

Presidents of 13 women's universities from Japan, South Korea, U.S. and China and more than 100 representatives on women's education from home and abroad attended the forum.
Women's universities play significant roles in creating, spreading and developing advanced gender culture, as well as promoting proper gender concept in society, Huang Qingyi, vice-president and first member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), said at the opening ceremony.
To promote further development of women's universities, Huang suggested highlighting features of women's higher education, creating brand of women's higher education and strengthening international exchanges and cooperation.
Presidents of women's universities gave speeches on the forum's theme of "Globalization and Higher Education for Women".
Nobuyuki Yamasaki, president of Kyushu Women's University, called for promotion of mutual understanding among women's universities under the globalization.
Bae-Yong Lee, president of Ewha Women's University, said the most important role of women's universities is to cultivate global leaders and establish their identity.
Elizabeth S. Boyland, academic vice-president of Barnard College, Columbia University, highlighted the problems and countermeasures on educating women in liberal arts and sciences for an increasingly interconnected world.
Luo Ting, president of Hunan Women's Federation, stressed the need to highlight the distinctive characteristics of women's universities in the operation and management of universities for women.
At the closing ceremony, Fan Jiying, member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, said in her closing remarks that the forum has deepened women's understanding of globalization and will promote the innovation and development of women's universities in the context of globalization.
